Earlier this week High Voltage Software, developer of upcoming SEGA FPS The Conduit, revealed Gladiator A.D. for Wii. It’s now confirmed the development of a second Wii exclusive, cooperative horror FPS The Grinder.

High Voltage Software chief creative officer Eric Nofsinger explained to IGN the reasons behind creating an intense cooperative horror experience on Wii.

“I can’t tell you how excited we are to be sharing The Grinder with you! We’ve been playing a lot of Left 4 Dead and there really isn’t that kind of frantic cooperative experience on the Wii right now. There’s certainly nothing that takes advantage of the Wii hardware the way we are able to with our engine,” said Nofsinger.

According to Nofsinger the game takes place in a world where monsters are real, with Vampires, werewolves and the undead being part of everyday life.

It’ll be the role of the players to enter areas with infestations and kill everything that moves. The team of monster slayers includes Hector, Doc, AJ, and Miko, all of whom have different backgrounds and special skill sets. Hector is a bounty hunter, Doc wants to discover more about the monsters, AJ is an urban explorer looking for revenge, and Miko is an assassin keen for a new challenge.

The game will support four-player online cooperative play, plus the option to play locally with a friend using a split screen. You’ll be waiting over a year to play it though, with High Voltage targeting a holiday 2010 release.

You’ll find much more on The Grinder on IGN.
