The Heroes of the Storm World Championship will reach its climax at BlizzCon this November, with players looking to secure a chunk of the $1.2 million prize fund, Blizzard has announced.
The winners will walk away with $200,000.
Getting to the final will be no mean feat, with regional qualifiers beginning in China later this month, then moving to the Americas (including North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia, as well as Australia and New Zealand), Europe, Korea, and Taiwan.
“We’re excited to kick off the inaugural Heroes of the Storm tournament series, and we can’t wait to see the best teams start to distinguish themselves in battle,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment.
“With the world championships for StarCraft II, World of Warcraft Arena,Hearthstone, and now Heroes of the Storm underway, 2015 is shaping up to be a great year for eSports fans.”
BlizzCon takes place on November 6-7 in Anaheim. Heroes of the Storm will officially launch on June 2.
