The DoTA-inspired multiplayer title Heroes of Newerth has gone free-to-play, and now includes three account types.

The new basic account is free and upgrades to a Verified account after the user has surpassed their given play-time, or alternatively purchased Goblin Coins.

Players who had been paid users will automatically be given Legacy accounts and receive a lifetime of free access to all Heroes of Newerth heroes, as well as the ability to play in Verified Only games. Legacy accounts can no longer be purchased.

Both Basic and Verified accounts will have access to 15 free heroes, and users will be able to purchase new heroes when they are made available, according to Kotaku.

Heroes of Newerth launched last year.
