Helldivers 2 fans have discovered “undocumented changes” from update 4.1.0, with the community not pleased about secret buffs for the Berserker and Hive Guard. As pointed out by Helldivers wiki, the Berserker secretly received an increase in arm and leg durability from 0% to 30%. Meanwhile, the Hive Guard had its fire damage multiplier reduced from 100% to 80% and also had its head durability increased from 0% to 35% with its body durability increased from 0% to 30%.

Reacting to these changes not mentioned in the update 4.1.0 patch notes, fans are not pleased about the lack of transparency. As pointed out by one user on Reddit, Arrowhead “buffed a lot of light pen weapons to deal more damage,” however, they “buffed the enemies so that the damage increase does not matter”. Another comment echoed the same sentiment, asking, “What is the point of buffing weapons if you buff the enemies to make it a net negative?”.

The changes to the Hive Guards received most venom in the comments with one user bemoaning that the “AMR doesn’t one shot Hive Guard heads now”. However, aside from secret enemy buffs, fans are also miffed about nerfs to the P-4 Senator.

While HD2 YouTuber, Glitch Unlimited, pointed out that the P-4 Senator received a buff with its damage secretly increased from 200 to 225, the community points out that it actually got nerfed as “Its drag was increased from 0.6 to 1.2 basically making it horrible against anything beyond 30 meters”.

More Helldivers 2 Updates are Coming

More Helldivers 2 updates are coming. As pointed out by Arrowhead CEO, Shams Jorjani, “Performance will take many more months of work to get even more meaningful improvement,” and Arrowhead are intending to release more patches before they return to what they hope is a “new normal”. Presumably this “new normal” means a return to adding new content such as leaked Illuminate cultists previously pegged for the end of this year.

It’s unknown if these updates will provide more balance changes, but they presumably will depending on feedback from the community. Secret changes not listed in patch notes is annoying, but, unfortunately, it’s happened in the past on a few occasions including stealth nerfs to weapons such as the HMG and Railgun, which were only confirmed by Arrowhead after receiving flack.

While fans will be hopeful of more balance changes in the patches to come, the focus will be on improving performance. Update 4.1.0 was a step in the right direction, but players on PC are still reporting hardlock issues, and Arrowhead want to reduce the game’s file size on PC beyond just 9GB.
