Arrowhead may be in need of new help as Helldivers 2 support studio Toadman Interactive shuts down multiple offices across Europe.

Founded in 2013, the Swedish game developer has assisted with numerous titles. However, the work-for-hire studio is now closing down multiple branches after eleven years of service.

Helldivers 2 support studio shuts down

For the past year, Toadman Interactive has helped Arrowhead Game Studios keep Helldivers 2 updated.

Alongside Helldivers, the studio also worked on content for Dead Island 2, Warhammer: Vermintide 2, and many more.

Unfortunately, offices in Stockholm, Visby, and Oslo will all be closed. However, the developer’s Berlin office — most known for developing VR hit Immortal: Unchained — is currently still active. It’s unclear how long the studio will survive.

At the time of closure, 111 developers worked at the studio. It’s unclear how many workers will keep their jobs at the Berlin office.

“Like many other game companies, we have gone through a tough period over the last 12 months,” the studio announced.  “Unfortunately, that means that we are shutting down our offices in Stockholm, Visby, and Oslo, as well as having some redundancies in our Berlin studio.”

How does this affect Helldivers?

During development, Helldivers 2 had multiple support studios under its belt. While Toadman Interactive was one of the major additions for programming, there was another major support studio: EAT Create Sleep.

Another Swedish games studio, EAT Create Sleep may still be assisting with future Helldivers 2 content. Nevertheless, it is a shame to see another studio close their doors after a year of seemingly constant closures.
