Arrowhead recently posted another Q&A session with Helldivers 2 Game Director, Mikael Eriksson, who revealed that the studio is planning to release patches “roughly every two weeks” before hopefully returning to updates with new content and features by December.

During the Q&A, Eriksson said that Arrowhead “have a bunch of ambitious plans for what we want to do with the game,” and “delaying these content updates in order to work on making the game more performant is unfortunate because – best case – we would never be in this situation to begin with”. The director shared that he and Arrowhead “appreciate” players who support and “bear with” the studio while they prioritise fixing performance and eliminating bugs.

Although unwilling to commit to a roadmap, Eriksson said that Arrowhead “intend to go into a period of more rapid patching to address the issues that we feasibly can address in a short amount of time”. This will hopefully be achieved through “patches roughly every two weeks for a while”.

Lastly, the game director shared that “the intention is that [Arrowhead will] do more content and feature updates – return to our more normal way of doing things – somewhere in November, December, but it all really depends on the outcome of these fixes that we’re introducing with these patches… but it won’t take longer than December, I hope”.

Helldivers 2 Content Updates to Return by December

There is the possibility plans can change due to unforeseen issues, but currently Arrowhead’s plan is to return to delivering updates with content and features by December. Interestingly, Geoff Keighley’s Game Awards is December 11th, so perhaps Arrowhead are preparing a surprise for the show? Last year Geoff Keighley’s event was used to announce and release the Omens of Tyranny.

Update 4.1.0 fixed “over 200 bugs” while also introducing undocumented changes not listed in the patch notes such as buffing Hive Guards. This update was released on October 23rd, so, if Arrowhead are planning to release new patches “roughly every two weeks,” we should expect the next update presumably on either November 4th or 6th.

We don’t know officially what new content Arrowhead is working on, but recently a new stealth Warbond leaked alongside a lava planet looking like Mustafar from Star Wars. Earlier this year there was also several leaked new Illuminate Cultists pegged to arrive before the end of 2025, but these plans may have changed.
