While most Helldivers 2 players are still reeling from the loss of Angel’s Venture as the Meridian Singularity heads towards Super Earth, developer Arrowhead is working on additional updates that will make the game even more terrifying.
In an upcoming update, new Helldivers 2 Gloom Missions will be coming to the multiplayer game. These new missions will take place within Gloom-infested planets, and will add brand-new objectives to complete and enemies to fight.
Helldivers 2 Gloom Missions leaked
Leaked by the ever-reliable Helldivers 2 dataminer IronS1ghts, Arrowhead is currently working on unique Gloom missions that can only be played on planets overtaken by the mysterious spores.
At the time of writing, only one Gloom mission has been discovered: “Scour Surface”. In the game’s files, this is tagged as a Gloom exclusive mission that can only occur on planets infested with the disease.
In this mission, players will be tasked with killing hundreds of Terminids and closing a lot of bug holes. The 40-minute mission includes a total of 29 “active Terminid holes” for players to lob grenades into and close.
It’s currently not known if these bug holes are all normal bug spawns or if they’ll also include other Terminids, such as Bile Titans and the like.
At the time of writing, this single mission objective is the only Helldivers 2 Gloom mission that actually works. However, more missions are in development at Arrowhead, alongside more powerful Terminids that have been mutated by the spores.
Alongside new Predator strains, the Gloom seems set to power up the game’s bug enemies tenfold. Now, what happens if a Bile Titan somehow gets infected by the spores? A nightmare, that’s what.
