Heavy Rain was announced back at E3 2006, which took place in the week of May 8. It’s now been revealed that just a week later, on May 15, the US Copyright Office recorded a short form option for the movie rights to the game.

The option is between Quantic Dream’s David Cage and New Line.

A short form option is a notice that the rights to produce an adapted work have been granted, and whilst probably means a movie is closer to production than it would be otherwise, does not indicate that said movie is going to start production anytime soon.

Heavy Rain is out now, only on PS3.
