It should come as no surprise, really, given that Halo 2 was – without exception – the most hyped and anticipated Xbox release since the dawn of the console, but even so, sales of the title are impressive.

Hidden away in Big Bill’s keynote speech at the 2005 Consumer Electronics Show currently on in Las Vegas, it was announced that Halo 2 has sold more than 6.3 million copies since release in November. That represents more than one-third of the total Xbox ownership having the game. Bragging Bill also confirmed that the Xbox Live service has also had over one million unique users, and players have logged over 69 million hours on the title, which makes it the most played Live title.

The original Halo was also a strong seller (albeit over a greater period of time), selling over 5 million copies to date, thus making the Halo franchise an extremely popular one. It goes without saying that a third title is inevitable.
