The developer behind Halo Infinite has revealed that the team thinks of Master Chief's next adventure as a spiritual reboot for the long-running franchise.
Speaking with IGN, 343 Industries' Bonnie Ross said the developer has put considerable thought into what the franchise means to them, reflecting on their experience with both Halo 4 and 5. As such, the new game is almost something of a fresh start for the team.
'We're kind of calling it a "spiritual reboot,"' said Ross. 'That's kind of how we talk about it.'
'There has been a lot of introspective time to really reflect on what [we have] done as 343,' she added. 'Where have we made mistakes? Where have we hit it right? What does Halo mean to all of us? That [Halo Infinite reveal] trailer we did is what Halo means to the studio.'
Ross also revealed during the interview that Gearbox were at one point considered to take on the job of developing Halo 4.
