A secret message in the Halo Infinite E3 Discover Hope trailer has been discovered by Twitter user Xepyal. As the Halo series has a history of promotion and lore exploration through augmented reality games, this could be the start of something big.
In the trailer, Master Chief is awakened by a marine and red sci-fi overlays flash across the screen briefly. Xepyal noticed something more, and took multiple screenshots of the red bars, stitched these together, then reproduced the QR code that formed from it. Scanning the code brings you to this 40 second audio clip of footsteps, then a voice who sounds a lot like Cortana says, ‘This…this is part of me. I don’t know why. I don’t know how. But it is me.’
This is how I got it, took multiple screenshots of the red bars and put them all together, then I had to make the QR code pic.twitter.com/Rjitz6W2Sw

The official Halo Twitter account replied to Xepyal’s discovery with a cheeky gif of Catherine Halsey captioned, ‘Took you long enough.’ Additionally, 343 Industries developers Frank O’Connor and John Junyszek took playful jabs at how long fans had taken to twig in this digital age.
Moreover, the QR code URL seems to match the coordinates shown in the ship’s navigation system, spotted by another keen fan and Reddit user Clementyfr. Whether this is the beginning of a full-blown ARG or a secretive easter egg, we’ll leave it to the professionals and sit tight until another find is unearthed.
Halo Infinite is due for release in Christmas 2020 for Xbox One, PC, and Project Scarlett.
