Not content with video games, books, CDs and an upcoming movie, the Halo franchise is now making its way into the world of comic books. The details on what stories will be featured are scarce, but Marvel has said that we can expect signature characters and weapons, as well as our favourite alien races, the Covenant and the Flood.
The graphic novel has a team of talented people onboard, including renowned French comics artist Moebius, Phil Hale, Ed Lee, Tsutomo Nihei, Jay Faerber, Andrew Robinson, Simon Bisley, and Lee Hammock. The graphic novel will also include gallery pages with art from Bungie’s internal art team and other professional comic artists.
“The chance to give our faithful fans something this special was a chance we had to jump at,” Bungie studio manager Harold Ryan said. “Re-exploring the Halo universe with some of our favourite comic book artists and writers–indeed, some of the greatest of all time–was a true labour of love and we couldn’t have picked a better partner than Marvel to help us achieve our vision.“
The 128-page full colour graphic novel is due for release in July, and Marvel, who has an exclusive deal with Bungie for the comic rights to Halo, has promised that additional titles are in the works.
