Back in October is was revealed that Fox and Universal, who had signed up to fund and distribute the movie, pulled out of the deal when an attempt to renegotiate a better deal was refused. Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh were to exec produce and newcomer Neil Blomkamp had been named as director.
Since then news on the future of the Halo movie has dried up, but according to recent comments made by Lord of the Rings director all is not lost. Stuff.co.nz reports that Jackson believes there will be renewed interest in the film thanks to the upcoming release of Halo 3.
However, Jackson and partner Walsh will only be involved if originally named director Blomkamp is kept in place. “We wouldn’t want to do it with anybody else. It’ll be Neill’s call,” said Jackson.
