Halo 2 Vista development team, Hired Gun, has blogged about the new Achievements to be included in the upcoming port of Bungie’s classic Xbox FPS.

The blog states that players will earn Achievements for completing simple tasks such as attaching a sticky grenade to an Elite, but also for much tougher tasks – going on a killing rampage with the sword for example.

Achievements will also be awarded for completing the single-player campaign levels across each difficulty setting.

These achievements were designed with some fundamental goals in mind – keep the game fun, encourage beginners to join our “Halo 2” community, and provide a new challenge with a few tough or interesting achievements for our most dedicated fans,” explains the development team.

Veteran players should also find plenty to work for, with Hired Gun noting, “we were sure to include several that any veteran will only get to after some serious work.

Halo 2 will be released for Windows Vista across Europe on May 18 and is the first title lined-up to use Windows Live. The game is scheduled for release in North America on May 8.

The game won’t support cross-platform online play though; this feature will debut with Shadowrun in June.
