Halo 2 street date allegedly broken in US

Halo 2, you may have heard of it. You may be aware that anticipation for the title is at fever-pitch, you may also be aware that it has broken records as the most pre-ordered game ever, approaching 2 million orders around the globe. You should also know that the official release date for the US is Tuesday 9th November, with us PAL folks getting it on 11th November.

Well, according to unconfirmed reports, the release date has been broken by some stores in the American Midwest, with chains being named. Several reports on the Gaming Age forums have implicated several individual ‘Meijer’ stores as selling the title early. So, if you know anybody in Ohio currently (and you have a US Xbox) tell them to pop down to Toledo, into a Meijer store and pick you up a copy.

Irrespective of whether or not the reports are true, copies of Halo 2 are floating around. And, as usual, you can trust good old eBay to supply the goods. Auctions here and here indicate the kinds of prices you would be looking to pay, just to get your piece of gaming pie just days earlier. Still, if you’ve gotta have it…
