According to Leaks_Infinite on X, remakes are planned for Halo 2 and 3, but, just like Campaign Evolved, there will be no multiplayer as that is being saved until Halo 7. The leaker claims that news of these remakes comes from the “same source that told me about the [Campaign Evolved] remake & its mechanics”.
Leaks_Infinite further reports that the 2 and 3 remakes will feature sprint just like Campaign Evolved. There’s no ETA for when these remakes will be announced, but Leaks_Infinite guesses Halo Studios might be using “Campaign Evolved to judge whether a Halo 2 & 3 remake would be viable”. This suggests that remakes are only a proposition rather than anything definitive.
As for why no multiplayer, the leaker says in replies that “Halo Studios wants everyone to play Halo 7’s MP, [so] they don’t want to create separate multiplayer experiences competing with each other”. Further concerning Halo 7, everyone is doubtful the series will return to numbered installments, of which Leaks_Infinite agrees, saying, “I’m only calling it ‘Halo 7’ because that’s what the rest of the community has become adjusted to… they aren’t going back to numbered titles”.
It’s important to clarify that this is a leak rather than anything official. Leaks_Infinite was accurate about the Campaign Evolved Remake as well as it using modern mechanics such as sprint and launching on PS5. However, Rebs Gaming questions the leak, and believes that they may be “planned for development” rather than “official plans”.
In addition, reputable Halo leaker, grunt.api, has shared doubts, responding, “Is it factual? Probably not. Is it possible? Absolutely”.
Halo Games Will be ‘On PlayStation Going Forward’
Whether the leak is true or not, Halo Studios’ Community Director, Brian Jarrad, recently confirmed that “Halo is on PlayStation going forward, starting with Campaign Evolved”. This means the Halo 2 and 3 Remake will be on PS5/PS6 assuming they do get developed, as well as Halo 7.
There’s no release date for Campaign Evolved, but it’s pegged for 2026. Other former Xbox exclusives joining PlayStation include Microsoft Flight Simulator in December, and Starfield is rumored to join PS5 in 2026, too.
As for PlayStation-published games joining Xbox after Helldivers 2, we only know of Marathon launching day one on Xbox Series X/S. While Sony hasn’t announced any other PlayStation-published games getting into bed with Microsoft, a recent job listing said Sony are seeking someone to shape and execute a global commercial strategy bringing PlayStation Studios software across all digital platforms, including Xbox. The belief is that this might be for live-service multiplayer games only.
In the future, it might not be necessary for PlayStation to port their games to Microsoft’s console as the next Xbox is reportedly a PC hybrid that can play PlayStation games available on Steam and the Epic Games store.
