Ever since it became clear that no pre-release demo of Half-Life 2 was forthcoming, the question on many gamers minds was whether or not Valve would do as they did with the original Half-Life, and release a specially made post-release demo level, to show off the game to potential buyers.

Downloadable now from ATI’s official website, and requiring a Steam account to play, the demo “takes players through some of the early levels of the game and later transports them to the area of the game known as Ravenholm,”. Weighing in a over 700MB, the demo will most probably be used by gamers who wish to know whether or not their PC is up to the task of running Half-Life 2’s Source engine.

So if the game has not yet graced your hard drive, we suggest you give it a go. And while it’s downloading, why not check out our review here?
