Guild Wars’ Elementalist update has been released and includes major changes to the class.
Almost 40 skills were changed significantly, while new functionalities and mechanics were introduced.
Included in the update are Elementalist doublecast skills, said to be “a new type of spell that casts on you as well as your target”. A number of currently available skills are now placed under this category.
Hard mode enemies also were hit by change, with lowered armour levels and raised health, which will allow Elementalists to begin to see larger damage numbers, turning them into an asset in hard mode.
In regards to the changes, the Guild Wars team have stated:
“In the next few months, we’ll evaluate the shifts created in the metagame as a result of these changes and make further adjustments to skills that are not in line with our intentions. Additionally, we’ll be working a second update to address issues with some of the Elementalist non-elite skills as the elites in this update settle into their places.”
While Guild Wars is still being honed by its development team, a mobile app for its sequel Guild Wars 2 is underway by ArenaNet.
Interesting that they’re still putting effort into Guild Wars with the sequel just around the corner. We’ll see whether its fanbase sticks with it when Guild Wars 2 releases.
