Guild Wars 2’s World-versus-World battles will pit three servers against one another in fights that will last for up to two weeks, according to system designer Mike Ferguson.
Taking to the official ArenaNet blog, Ferguson wrote that battles will take place within one of three different areas: with four maps within The Mists, three home maps within Borderlands which gives each team a home advantage, and one central map called the Eternal Battleground.
Maps will include keeps, towers and resource camps, all of which can be captured to increase your team and server’s War Score.
Alongside the human players, keeps are defended by strong NPCs, walls, gates, and a boss lord, says Ferguson.
In order to break through, users will need siege weaponry which must be built using the resources they have captured. Siege weapons include Trebuchets, Arrow Carts, Catapults, Ballistae and Siege Golems.
Additionally teams will fight for the Orb of Power which is available at the centre of their Borderlands map and guarded by a boss called the Keeper.
Lower level characters will automatically be adjusted to level 80 for the fights, however those who levelled naturally will be given a clear advantage.
“So what’s a low-level character to do? Anybody can man a siege weapon, help repair walls, or go hunt down enemy dolyaks, so even new characters can still be useful in the Mists – as long as they pick their fights wisely,” Ferguson explains.
Guild Wars 2 currently has no official release date, however Amazon.de has pinned June 30 as the date to look out for.
