Guild Wars 2 is on the horizon, and ArenaNet already has eSports ambitions for its competitive PvP.
Speaking to Zam, designer Jon Peters acknowledged the team were readying the game to appeal to professional competitive gamers.
“We consider it to be one of the primary goals of Guild Wars 2 competitive PvP to make it into an eSport,” he stated.
“We plan to have daily tournaments, monthly tourneys and a yearly world championship. I can’t give out tons of details on these yet, but I just wanted you guys to know that we plan to have these things and support them.”
Recently the team released full details on what users should expect from the MMO’s World versus World battles, which are said to take up to two weeks to complete due to their scale and difficulty.
Guild Wars 2 has no currently release date announced.
