Mexican-scented sequel Guacamelee! 2 is coming to the PC via Steam ‘soon,’ developer Drinkbox Studios has announced.

The follow-up to the metroidvania actioner transports players to a whole new area of Mexico, pitting hero Juan up against a whole new bevy of bosses and enemies. Fortunately, you can bring along a few mates in tow, with four-player support allowing for some manic cooperative shenanigans.

Guacamelee! 2 also spruces up the lush-looking environments with a bunch of snazzy new lighting effects, while your chicken form also benefits from some extra punch in the shape of an array of new abilities to unleash upon your foes. Also new to the table is the Eagle Boost, ‘a hooking mechanic that allows Juan to attach and fly through “boost points” in the environment.’

‘We’re thrilled to announce that Guacamelee! 2 will be coming soon to a Steam Store near you!’ said Drinkbox Studios Co-Founder, Graham Smith. ‘Drinkbox Studios is also about to turn 10 years old! In celebration of our anniversary and this new announcement, we’ve decided to put the entire Drinkbox Steam catalog on sale at 90% off.’

Guacamelee! 2 will be released on PlayStation 4 and PC.
