Last week Grand Theft Auto III was announced for new generation mobile devices, including the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, but this didn’t include the hugely popular iPhone 4.
Lack of support for the single-core phone came as a bit of a surprise, especially given it had only just been superseded. However, it turns out that the iPhone 4 and iPad 1 are getting a version of the action game which showed what was possible with open-world games.
Rockstar told Kotaku that the game will be coming to “single core iOS devices in the future.”
The game launches this autumn for the following platforms:
Apple iOS Devices: iPad 2, iPhone 4S
Android Phones: Droid X2, HTC Evo 2, LG Optimus 2X, Motorola Atrix, Samsung Galaxy S2
Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
Given the huge gap in graphical capabilities of the iPhone 4 and 4S it will be interesting to see how the, albeit decade-old, game holds up on the weaker hardware.
