The latest edition of the Official PlayStation 2 magazine has revealed new information on the PSP incarnation of the GTA series, GTA Liberty City Stories. In the latest GTA you will play as mob boss Tony Cipriani from GTA III.

As the title suggests, the game is set in Liberty City, but according to the magazine is set in 1998, three years before GTA III. The game has been revamped to reflect the earlier time, but gamers will still be able to recognise many of the game’s locations.

Despite going back in time you’ll still be able to ride motorbikes, something which was not possible in GTA III. There is currently no news on airborne vehicles, which if missing, would be a big loss to the game.

Rockstar has said the controls will be adjusted to suit the PSP and a new targeting system has been created making locking onto targets even easier than in other GTAs. The rumoured wireless multiplayer modes have, however, been given a shot in the foot, with Rockstar concentrating on the single player game and refusing to comment on multiplayer.

No exact date has been set for the game’s release, but we can expect it in Q4 2005.
