GTA 6 is predicted to be the biggest entertainment launch of all time, let alone video game history. While we still don’t know the price, Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has said the aim is to “deliver more value” than people pay for with prices set to be announced soon. Now, in another new interview, the Take-Two CEO has briefly discussed the highly-anticipated Grand Theft Auto, declaring that Rockstar are determined to beat the “extraordinary expectations” everyone has for GTA 6.
Rockstar are determined to smash “extraordinary expectations” for GTA 6
Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick, sat down with CNBC to discuss the publisher’s Q2 earnings in an interview uploaded on August 11th. Most of the sit-down involved chatter about Take-Two Interactive’s foray into the mobile scene of gaming as well as the publisher’s upcoming release schedule of Borderlands 4 and NBA.
Of course, towards the end of the interview, the conversation turned to GTA 6 as it is the most highly anticipated game arguably of all time. Asked about confidence in the May 26th, 2026, release date, Strauss Zelnick said, “my level of conviction is very, very high”.
The Take-Two CEO was then asked if he is worried about the great expectations that fans and the industry have for the game. Zelnick said “we try not to pump expectations,” and that Rockstar’s “whole stock and trade is to have these extraordinary expectations and still to beat them, I know that’s their goal”.
Zelnick said, “I know it’s going to be an amazing game,” but, as to whether it can beat the expectations, “we’ll see”. In the interview, Zelnick also said “I’m happy” there’s a lot of talk about GTA 6, pointing to the game’s second trailer acquiring “475 million views in 24-hours, setting a new record, breaking the internet”.
While there is little doubt GTA 6 will be fantastic, it will be hard for Rockstar to beat expectations because of how extraordinarily high they are from the entire world. Many people are pretty much expecting Grand Theft Auto 6 to be the greatest video game of all time, and expectations such as this stem from Rockstar’s incredible portfolio consisting of masterpieces such as Red Dead Redemption 2, as well as reports of the game’s budget exceeding $1 billion.
We will have to wait to experience the full quality of GTA 6 when it comes out, but we cannot wait for next year and, like many publishers, we are praying there will not be another delay.
In other GTA 6 news, a leak has revealed Rockstar are planning to add age verification for Online in the “near future,” and a beloved recurring character from the past “doubts” he is in the game.
