Gran Turismo 4’s reign at the top of the UK game sales chart is over. EA’s arcade football title FIFA Street has dislodged it from the top spot, with new entrants this week failing to have an impact on the top three. EA’s big new release, TimeSplitters: Future Perfect, debuts at No. 4 and Capcom’s Devil May Cry 3 makes No.5. The only other new entry this week is The Punisher from THQ. The 18 rated game enters the chart at No. 14.
Disappointingly, Resident Evil 4 slipped down thirteen places to No.18. The fact that many stores in the UK don’t stock GameCube titles anymore can’t have helped the Game of the Year contender. Super Mario 64 DS continues to do well on the Nintendo DS, being the only Nintendo DS title in the top ten.
This Friday sees the release of Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory. The third game in the stealth series has been developed by Ubisoft’s Montreal Studio and has received rave reviews across the board. With a version of the game being released on Xbox, PlayStation 2, PC and N-gage, we’ll be very surprised if this doesn’t take the top spot next week.
