The first Gravity Rush 2 reviews are in and so far critics are really enjoying the action game sequel from Sony Japan Studio.

Scoring 9.5 out of 10 on Destructoid, the reviewer states: “Gravity Rush 2 is the kind of game that makes me want to do everything. If there’s more DLC beyond the upcoming free Raven campaign, I’ll play it. If there’s some uncovered secret or time trial I haven’t done yet, I’ll find it. Now that the series is unchained from the ill-fated Vita, I hope it gets the recognition it deserved the first time around.”

Scoring 4.5 out of 5, US Gamer writes: “Gravity Rush 2 is a real treat for the eyes, ears, and reflexes. Its cinematic looks and score are wonderful, and its storyline is enthralling and thoroughly compelling. All combine brilliantly with the addictive and entertaining mission-based action to create a terrific game that’s an absolute joy to play.”

With a score of 84 out of 100, IGN notes: “After 40 hours I found it hard to put the controller down, and I can’t wait to jump back in to finish every sidequest I can find.”

Not everyone was so taken with the game, with GamesRadar+ awarding the sequel 3 out of 5 and stating: “When Kat is flying through the air, fighting massive bosses in huge, open environments, or whipping through clusters of strange, floating rocks and just going for it, Gravity Rush 2 is an absolute delight – a convergence of strange narrative, jazzy style, and high-flying, vertigo-inducing acrobatics. When it forces you to the ground to complete yet another half-baked stealth sequence, it all falls apart.”

Still, even with a few less positive scores, Gravity Rush 2 holds a Metacritic score of 80 out of 100.

Gravity Rush 2 will launch for PS4 on January 20.
