Polyphony Digital head honcho Kazunori Yamauchi has revealed that Gran Turismo Sport has passed five million players worldwide.
The racing simulator was released exclusively for PlayStation 4 last October, although was a little slow off the podium compared to previous entries in the franchise. Still, five million ain't nothing to turn your nose at, so fair play to Sony.

Gran Turismo Sport is continuing to receive updates from the team at Polyphony, although quite where the franchise will head next remains up in the air. Presumably we'll see Gran Turismo 7 at some point, though hopefully it won't take half a lifetime to arrive (I'm looking at you, Gran Turismo 5).
On the subject of milestones, it's worth noting that Gran Turismo is Sony's best-selling franchise of all time, with over 80 million units sold globally since its inception in December 1997.
