Amongst the pre-PlayStation E3 conference earlier this morning, Sony took to the official PlayStation Twitter to dump a lot of games information before the show itself had even begun. One of these was further confirmation of the visual fidelity and game speed of Gran Turismo Sport, the latest game from the oft-tardy Polyphonic Digital.
The PlayStation Twitter account announced that Gran Turismo Sport would in fact be running at 4K60. That’s 4K resolution, 60 frames per second.Â
But we already knew that, as PlayStation has previously stated it will run in 4K60 at 1800p checkerboard. So what does that mean to you? It still looks really charming. Provided you have a PlayStation 4 Pro of course.
Gran Turismo Sport has been in development for quite some time, and it’s only been in recent weeks that Polyphonic Digital has been keen to showcase more of the game.
It’ll be based on the iRacing style, where its primary focus is on an online racing community. With all the official licensing in place from the likes of the FIA (the motorsports governing body), it’s in a prime position to do quite well.
The official line is as follows:Â
‘Gran Turismo Sport is the world’s first racing experience to be built from the ground up to bring global, online competitions sanctioned by the highest governing body of international motorsports, the FIA (Federation International Automobile). Create your legacy as you represent and compete for your home country or favorite manufacturer’.
So we know it’s coming out later this year, and it’ll be great to see the Ferrari red that Kazunori Yamauchi has been gushing about in previous interviews. Just to see if it is all it’s cracked up to be. To be fair, it does look rather grand.
Gran Turismo Sport will release on PlayStation 4 this year, probably.
