A Gran Turismo Sport Closed Beta will begin for US players on March 17, Sony and Polyphony Digital have announced.

The beta will begin in the US as “time differences across the U.S. are best matched to the development team in Tokyo”. After the initial phase, a second phase will launch taking in some players from Europe.

Spaces in the two phases will be limited, but additional beta testing is planned in the run up to launch.

Those who do get accepted into the beta will be able to choose from a select rotation of cars and tracks each day to race online. Track and car selections will vary during this period.

The beta will also provide a first look at how the Driver Profile is integrated within GT Sport, including Sportsmanship Rating and Driver Rating, which aim to ensure online players are matched up in races against equally capable drivers.

You can sign up for a chance to take part in the closed beta here, though only those who are successful will be contacted by email with a voucher code to download the beta game client.
