Sony has confirmed the pricing of Gran Turismo 6’s controversial microtransactions, revealing that players will be able to buy packs of in-game credits costing between £3.99 and £39.99.

The pricing was revealed on PlayStation Blog, where it was confirmed that four types of packs will be available offering various credit denominations.

  • 500,000 In-Game Credits (£3.99/€4.99)
  • 1 Million In-Game Credits (£7.99/€9.99)
  • 2,500,000 In-Game Credits (£15.99/€19.99)
  • 7 Million In-Game Credits (£39.99/€49.99)

The packs offer players a shortcut to accruing credits, which are earned in-game by completing events and used to purchase new cars.

Some of the game’s most expensive cars costs 20 million in-game credits, the equivalent to £113.97.

Forza Motorsport 5, Gran Turismo 6’s closest competitor, was heavily criticised for its use of microtransactions, forcing developer Turn 10 to alter the in-game economy and offer reductions on car prices.

Gran Turismo 6 launches exclusively on PlayStation 3 this Friday, December 6.
