The God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC was just announced at The Game Awards 2023, and the short trailer showcased what looked like an endless tower mode that’ll undoubtedly sate your thirst for more Norse mythology-themed action. According to the clip, the DLC will be released next week on December 12, 2023, and yes, it will be free, so you won’t need to purchase anything to get the update – apart from the game, that is.
According to PlayStation’s official blog post, the God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC will serve as an epilogue to the base game’s events. The scenes displayed throughout the course of the trailer (which we’ve linked below) depict Valhalla as Kratos navigates its perilous landscape with only Mimir at his side. Alas, the ever-beloved protagonist will not be uttering the word “Boy” this time around since Atreus will surprisingly not accompany him on this adventure.
Since this is a roguelike, endless tower-themed content addition, you won’t have access to armor and equipment immediately and must “instead build towards both per-attempt and permanent rewards.” Luckily, you will be able to make use of your weapons and “fully-upgraded skill trees at all times, but must commit to a shield and path of Spartan rage of each attempt.”
As you progress through the trials of Valhalla, you’ll be given the chance to choose between different upgrades that’ll give you new perks, Glyphs, Runic Attacks to wield, and more, which should make the non-stop combat a bit more bearable each time. If you’re having trouble advancing through the stages, there will be five difficulty settings you can choose from, so you won’t have to worry about not being able to finish the entire DLC.
You’ll be able to get a sneak peek of the God of War Ragnarok Valhalla DLC through the trailer provided by PlayStation and Sony Santa Monica Studio below. Once again, it gets released on December 12, 2023, for the PlayStation 5.
