Starfield’s full release is now here, and has already had a weekend of ringing endorsements from those who’ve been playing since early access at the weekend.

However, also among that praise has been a ringing endorsement from perhaps someone some fans might not have expected, given his long-time association with PlayStation and Starfield being an Xbox exclusive. David Jaffe – God of War’s original creator and the creator of Twisted Metal – has given the space RPG high praise indeed on his Twitter account. “I’m console agnostic,” he opens up “y’all know that. A great game is a great game. I see this because if you love games as well and don’t have an Xbox, you owe it to yourself to get Gamepass for a month and try out Starfield (even if just using cloud). It is easily one of my top 3 games of all time.”

While some of Jaffe’s recent opinions have raised eyebrows (such as when he called Tears of the Kingdom “bland” earlier this year) – his latest stance on Starfield seems much more agreeable. “Now your milage may vary of course, but if in the past you’ve found yourself realising your taste and mine is similar enough, don’t let this childish console ‘war’ nonsense keep you away from this brilliant thing. If you love 1p action adventures, you owe it to yourself.”

His much needed message of console unity has been welcomed by the Starfield community, of course – with many offering a similar sentiment. “I was upset when I first heard it was exclusive just because it meant I had to pay more money to buy in,” says one Reddit user “But I’ve always wanted to build a high end PC so I went for it. Game is great so far! PooPooKazew has similar high praise “I know this may sound stupid, but it almost feels too good to be a Bethesda game. I played Fallout 4 earlier this year and the difference in quality even in the smallest animations is night and day.”

We’re quite fond of the game too of course – for proof of that, have a read of our Starfield review.
