Gizmondo Europe has today announced that the much delayed and ridiculed (in some areas) is to hit UK streets on 19th March 2005. The unit will retail for £229 and come packaged with battery, charger, contract-free sim card, SD memory card containing music, game and movie demos, in-ear headphones, driver software and USB cable.

At the moment details on what games will be available at launch aren’t available, but they will retail at three levels: £9.99, £19.99, and £29.99. With the system’s 400Mhz ARM9 processor and GoForce 3D 4500 NVIDIA graphics accelerator, the Gizmondo is certainly capable of housing some great games. Time will tell if those games ever arrive.

We’ll try and bring you more on the Gizmondo in the coming months.
