Ubisoft has announced that Ghost Recon Wildlands will be getting a PvP mode in a free update the autumn,  with a 4v4 deathmatch open beta coming to all platforms this summer. The PvP mode will be called Ghost War mode, with two teams fighting over territory after [spoilers] the fall of the Santa Blanca Cartel.

The teams in Ghost War will be able to choose from a variety of specialised classes, including scout, sniper, and tank, with more to be announced. Obviously each class has its own strengths and weaknesses, so players can choose a class which is suitable to their own method of playing, and one that complements their squad makeup.

Squads will descend onto a wide-range of open-world battlefields, such as jungles, mountains and forests. We’re told it’ll be imperative that each team takes note of the environment around them, and plans accordingly, as the weather and time-of-day will continually change.

Ghost War will also include new PvP mechanics, such as sound markers which will help with locating enemies’ positions, and suppressing fire, which affects your vision whilst under heavy fire. These elements are to ensure that teamwork and communication is even more important.

Ghost Recon Wildlands has been quite the hit, performing strongly as one of the best-selling games of 2017 despite a mixed critical response. The open beta for Ghost War will be available on all platforms later this summer, with the full mode will released as a free update to all Ghost Recon Wildland owners later in 2017.

Ghost Recon Wildlands is out now for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
