Ubisoft has announced the follow-up to 2017's Ghost Recon Wildlands as Ghost Recon Breakpoint, directly following on from the events of last weekend's Operation Oracle mission for the former game.

Breakpoint sees you once again take on the role of Nomad, who's apperance you'll customise but nothing will be carried over from the previous games. However, this time you'll be going against former The Punisher star Jon Bernthal's unit of Ghosts-gone-rogue the Wolves with Bernthal himself playing Lt. Colonel Cole D Walker.

The new game will move the action to the open world island of Auroa, which has far more jungles, fjords and even an active volcano in contrast to the previous games' Bolivia. There'll be plenty of new units and enemies to deal with, but you'll also have access to a bunch of new tools and weapons and a brand new class system that allows you to specalise in certain loadouts of equipment, although details of those classes are to be revealed at a later date.

Once again, up to four player co-op will be supported, but as you'll be going up against highly trained Ghosts rather than the ragtag cartels of the previous game expect enemies to be a little bit smarter.

You'll be able to pick up the game in several flavours, including a Gold Edition which includes the game and a Year 1 Pass, or an Ultimate Edition with the above plus an Ultimate Pack and finally The Wolves Collector's Edition which includes everything along with a steelbook, a waterproof(!) map of Auroa, soundtrack and a figurine of Lt Walker. All pre-orders also get access to a beta for the game to take place later this summer.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint launches on PlayStation 4, PC and Xbox One on October 4.
