The triumphant success of Ghost of Yotei continues as it is one of the top 10 best-selling premium games of 2025 in the United States, despite selling exclusively on PS5. Mat Piscella, Senior Director & Video Game Industry Thought Leader at Circana, has shared the Ghost of Tsushima sequel sneaks in at number 10. It is also the only PS5 exclusive included, as Death Stranding 2 is nowhere to be seen.
Circana’s findings are ranked on dollar sales for both physical and digital releases from the Nintendo eShop, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC platforms such as Steam. However, it’s noted that for MLB The Show 25 digital sales for Nintendo and Xbox are not included. Below are the top 10 best-selling premium games in the United States for 2025:
- Battlefield 6
- NBA 2K26
- Monster Hunter Wilds
- Borderlands 4
- EA Sports College Football 26
- The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion Remastered
- Call of Duty Black Ops 6
- Madden NFL 26
- MLB The Show 25
- Ghost of Yotei
The inclusion of Ghost of Yotei is impressive. All of the other games are available across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, and all of them are either sports games or feature multiplayer, except for Oblivion Remastered. Mat Piscella also says, “Ghost of Yotei is 3rd on the PlayStation year-to-date best-selling titles chart behind only NBA 2K26 and Battlefield 6”.
Ghost of Yotei sales exceed 3.3 million
We don’t know the exact sales for Ghost of Yotei right now. However, Sony’s financial results for the second quarter ending September 2025 shows it exceeded 3.3 million sales as of November 2nd. This is only a month after its release on October 2nd.
In comparison, Ghost of Tsushima sold 2.4 million copies globally in its first three days. Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO, Herman Hulst, then announced on November 13, 2020, that “Ghost of Tsushima is [Sony’s] fastest-selling first-party original PS4 game with more than 5 million copies sold since its debut in July”.
Ghost of Yotei is on track to at least match Tsushima’s success of over 5 million sales in five months. This is despite Tsushima releasing on PS4, which sold more than 113.5 million units as of September 2020, meanwhile, PS5 lifetime units sold globally have only just topped 84.2 million as of November 2025.
Sucker Punch haven’t decided yet whether their next game will be more Ghost or a return to Sly Cooper. If we get more Ghost, expect the next game to be set in another time period, as Sucker Punch says they’re interested in continuing to explore different time periods and settings in Japanese history.
Leading up to its release, Ghost of Yotei’s biggest controversy was abandoning Jin for Atsu. Sucker Punch previously replaced inFamous lead Cole MacGrath with Delsin for Second Son, and it didn’t work out. Thankfully, history didn’t repeat itself with Ghost of Yotei as Atsu is a fun protagonist thanks to Erika Ishii’s stellar performance inspired by the likes of Kill Bill and Clint Eastwood.
