HoYoverse has released a new video unveiling a bunch of new characters coming in Genshin Impact’s upcoming 4.0 update, set to expand the region of Fontaine.
The video, entitled Overture Trailer: The Final Feast unveils the voice cast of the upcoming update, while also teasing some of what’s in store story wise for the popular online game. But it’s careful not to give too much away, letting the game’s community draw some of their own conclusions. The description for the video reads “Enjoy a rapturous ode sung in reverse. Enjoy a whirling waltz drowning in tears of joy and sorrow. Enjoy a magical performance for which none shall applaud… The actors have taken the stage, the audience have taken their seats. So let us enjoy it all, right until the final curtain call.”
Players are hyped for the new tease, as evidenced by the community’s reaction over on the official Genshin Impact subreddit, especially for one of the characters who appears front and centre – Arlecchino, The Knave. “The eye glow of Arlecchino is so menacing,” says Nazranx2. “It honestly just adds to her overall appeal, her design alone has instantly shot up to become one of my favorites. The menacing eye is just a bonus,” agrees LivingASlothsLife.
They’re not the only character fans are excited for, however. For example, though Ghavarus agrees that Arlecchino looks great, they add “Though I’m really curious about the black haired guy because he might be a blind playable character, judging by how he checked the temperature and shape of the cups before picking them up.” Many members of the subreddit are also hyped with what appears to be a gun in the trailer, wondering if this trailer means we’ll be getting a new weapon type in the new update. As nickelflowers puts it quite enthusiastically “I DON’T CARE IF THEY HAVE MIKA-STYLE S*** WHERE HE’S A POLEARM WITH 3 OTHER WEAPONS! GIVE ME GUNS!! GUUUNNSSSS!! ‘MUURIICCAAAAAA”
There’s still a bit of time before the 4.0 update lands, however; as this week sees the release of Genshin Impact 4.8 which is set to arrive on Wednesday. Given new updates generally come in on a 42-day or so basis, players speculate that we should see Genshin Impact arrive sometime in mid August. We’ll let you know when a specific date is announced.
