The slip came when speaking to GameDaily about Microsoft’s promotions for the upcoming Christmas period. Microsoft’s corporate VP of global marketing, Jeff Bell, said, “The goal of [one particular ad] is to establish Marcus Fenix as the hero of the Gears of War trilogy.“
This slip of the tongue comes after recent hints dropped by the Gears development team; Lead designer Cliff Bleszinski having already said that assuming the game does well he “wouldn’t rule anything out.“
The game has already been a massive success, shooting straight the top of the UK All Formats chart, with an impressive 99,614 copies sold – making it the fastest selling original Xbox 360 game ever.
