For the week of November 13, based on the global unique users connected to Xbox Live, Gears of War is now the top Xbox Live title, even beating the mighty Halo 2.
After what appears to have been an eternity as the most played Xbox Live title, Halo 2 has been dislodged from the top of the chart, replaced by Microsoft and Epic Games’ Xbox 360 masterpiece Gears of War.
Gears also manages to fend off strong Xbox 360 contenders such as Call of Duty 3, Contra and Call of Duty 2.
It will now be interesting to see if Gears of War can hold onto the top spot with the same level of dominance that Halo 2 showed for all those months, or whether the third-person shooter’s reign will be a short-lived affair only to be ousted by Halo 2 once the hype around the game dies down.
