According to The Moviepool, Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski was speaking at Comic-Con last week about the current status of the Gears of War movie and indicated the project might have to be restarted from scratch.
According to the report, those involved with the movie are now going back to look at the script and could end up starting all over again.
Bleszinski is reported to have expressed concerns over the projected budget of the movie – in the region of $100 million – which was too high for studios to be interested. Production along the same lines as District 9 – a successful action film made for comparatively very little – is now the target.
This backs up an earlier report from the LA Times, which suggested the scope of the project had been cut considerably.
