In a move that could easily be described as ridiculous, Microsoft has announced that the much anticipated Gears of War for the Xbox 360 will launch in the UK on November 17 – the same day the PlayStation 3 goes on sale across Europe.
Microsoft is obviously unconcerned about launching on the same day as what will undoubtedly be the most hyped event in the European gaming calendar, but gamers who have to spend the money might be a little unimpressed. When faced with playing a brand new system (no matter if it has a game of the quality of Gears of War or not) or a new game, I don’t think many would opt for the game. Still, it’s a brave move by Microsoft; only time will tell if it proves to be a sensible one.
As we revealed earlier today, the game will be available in standard and special limited collector’s edition varieties, although no price has been announced for Europe.
