Gears of War 4 is the latest title going free-to-play as part of Xbox Live Gold's Free Play Days event, Microsoft has announced.

The Coalition's muscle-bound shooter will be free on January 31 and will remain so until February 3, during which you can test drive the game's campaign and multiplayer modes, such as Versus, Horde, and Escalation.

Gears of War 4 was released on Xbox One back in 2016, and switches gears (ha ha!) by placing you in control of Marcus Fenix's son, J.D., who teams up with buddies Del and Kait to combat a new threat to humanity.

If you're a Gears fan, then you should definitely give it a shot this weekend – it's well good.
