Edge has uncovered, by way of a US publishing source, the first details of Epic Games’ upcoming Gears of War 3.
After two games stopping and popping, Gears 3 is set to shake things up a little with the introduction of new Locust with tentacles capable of extending into previously safe cover positions. COG members with have a new trick up their sleeves too, able to send underground explosives to take out enemy cover positions.
New mech suits will also be introduced, proving protection and the ability to wreak havoc on the enemy.
The game is also said to be set in the summertime and will see the introduction of a host of new environments, including some set underwater. Edge also points to Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 GDC demo earlier this year as evidence of possible jungle or foliage-heavy locations.
Edge also expects the game to be announced on Monday’s episode of US talk show, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
