Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford has revealed that recently filed trademarks are a good indication that the studio is looking to create a new intellectual property “down the road”.

Earlier this week it was reported that Gearbox had filed trademark registrations for World War II Hero, War Hero, Brothers in Arms War Hero and Modern War Hero.

Pitchford told Shacknews that the trademarks reveal “a bit about our interests in the development of another original intellectual property.” He added that Gearbox hasn’t talked to any partners about War Hero and therefore certainly isn’t ready to talk publicly about the new IP at this time.

The Gearbox president also revealed that War Hero is not one of the three mystery projects currently listed on the studio’s website.
