Nintendo has given Link’s The Legend of Zelda nemesis, Ganondorf, a surname.

As spotted by Destructoid, the online guide on the official Zelda website states that one of gaming’s most infamous characters isn’t like Seal or Madonna, and indeed has a family name.

‘Once known as the King of Thieves, Ganondorf Dragmire used the power of the Triforce to become the beast, Ganon” reads his entry in the guide’s glossary.

While this may rock the world of many, some Zelda fans became aware of Ganondorf’s surname in the English manual for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. Naturally enough, there were those that thought this was something lost in translation rather than cold, hard fact.

Well, now you know it most certainly is.
