In development at Sony’s London Studio, Gangs of London won’t be a title for the faint-hearted. Take control of some of London’s most fearsome gangs (Cockney, Triad, Yardie, Russian or Pakistani) as you bid for domination of the country’s capital city. The game will feature many game modes, but primarily is an urban combat action title, which will see you take control of a gang, hotswapping between gang members. Play through over 60 missions each linked with “stunning graphic-novel style narratives.“

The game also features a Gang Battle strategy game, which mixes the turn-based play of a board game with the best elements of Poker. Take on up to four other gamers on a single PSP or compete against AI controlled gangs. Using an interactive map you must deploy your criminal forces to attack or defend different areas of London, using bonus cards to strengthen you position. All moves are made blind, with your hidden plans revealed to the opposition at the end of each turn.

The game has plenty more to offer. A free-roaming mode allows you to explore the city on your own terms, with a number of variables such as police levels, vehicles and weather conditions all in your control. You can also choose to play as an American exploring London and taking photos of the city’s most famous landmarks. If you think you’re a bit of an expert when it comes to London then why not take the same test London taxi drivers take, proving you know the city like the back of your hand.

Mini-games are popular additions to PSP titles and Gangs of London also provides on this front, including numerous pub games: Darts, Pool and Skittles are available from the game’s menu no matter where you are in the game. The PSP’s wireless capabilities will also be put to use with a unique game sharing mode. Using each PSP’s unique serial number the game will generate a Tube level which can be sent over to other PSP owners proving you with as many levels as you have mates.

Gangs of London looks to be a game to watch for and is scheduled for release later this year.
