Not even ten minutes into Gamescom, it seems a repeat of The Game Awards 2022 is already among us. After a musical performance from the composer of Starfield, Inon Sur and the reveal of a new live-action trailer for the game, several stage invaders took to the Gamescom ONL stage, demanding they play the long-awaited GTA 6 now.
As Keighly took to the stage to gloat about being able to play Starfield early, he was quickly interrupted by the group with one stage invader saying, âBill Clinton wants to play GTA 6. I want to play GTA 6â. While Keighly attempted to move away from the invaders, security quickly escorted them off stage.
This isnât the first time a stage invader has taken the opportunity to grab their 15 minutes of fame. Just last year at Keighlyâs The Game Awards, a similar situation occurred when the Game of the Year award was presented to Elden Ring developers, FromSoftware. Similarly, at The Game Awards, during FromSoftwareâs winning speech, another stage invader hijacked the address at the end of the show, dedicating FromSoftwareâs award to his âreformed Orthodox rabbi, Bill Clintonâ.
On this occasion at Gamescom, Keighly refrained from interacting with the stage invaders, and once they were escorted off stage, Keighly noted that he was âreally disappointed. Thatâs just so disappointing. This is such a special night for so many developers, itâs really disappointing to see someone act that wayâ. After the stage invaders were escorted off the stage, Keighly continued, âReally, itâs just so sad to me to see something like that happen on a night when weâre here to celebrate games and this community and how much they mean to us.â Following on from this, Keighly quickly moved on as to keep the opening presentation running smoothly.
In other Gamescom news, Starfield shows off a breathtaking new live-action trailer and Zack Snyderâs Rebel Moon game is coming â but sounds lightyears away.
