The Nintendo DS Lite goes on sale across Europe on Friday (June 23), and GAME’s Oxford Street store and Hamley’s concession will be dedicated to the launch, selling the first units of the console in the UK.
GAME is expecting hundreds of gamers to be queuing up outside stores in order to get their hands on the new, sleeker DS, and the aforementioned stores are the place to be, with a spectacular launch event to get everyone in the party mood. The stores will be giving away goody bags, running competitions, and will have plenty of demonstration DS Lite units. The first 75 customers who by a DS Lite at the Oxford Street store will also receive a free game.
Over at the Hamley’s store, a DS Lite console and a copy of Brain Training will be given away each hour to the person with the lowest brain age. The competition will run from 11am to 4pm.
“We are anticipating huge crowds of customers will come to our stores to get their hands on their DS Lite at the first possible moment. The console has been hotly anticipated by thousands of customers who have reserved this console for weeks in advance and we are working flat out to make sure customers get the products they want first,” said Robert Quinn, Sales Director at GAME.
GAME will continue to take DS Lite pre-orders until store closing on Thursday, June 22.
