Only days after announcing some impressive financials and plans for expansion, the giant of high street video game retail has revealed that it is all set to dominate the market with its new purchase.

It is not yet confirmed if Gamestation stores will be re-branded as GAME stores or keep their own identity, but comments from company chairman Peter Lewis to MCV suggest that the two will maintain a complimentary high street presence.

We are delighted to bring Gamestation into our portfolio and believe it has a strong future within the group,” stated Lewis.

The news of the takeover is joined by the announcement that Gamestation’s gross assets total £60.9 million. The figures suggest a healthy video game retail market, despite recent concerns about the negative impact of selling second hand product alongside new releases.
