The reveal time for The Game Awards 2025 nominees is imminent. Geoff Keighley’s annual event is set to take place on December 11th, and, as per usual, the ceremony will be full of fantastic trailers, gameplay exhibitions, and surprise announcements. All of the nominees will be learned later today, but we have our own predictions for the coveted Game of the Year trophy.

Game Awards 2025 Nominees Reveal Time

The Game Awards 2025 nominees will be revealed at 9AM PT/12PM ET/5PM GMT on November 17th. This was officially confirmed by Geoff Keighley on X, and you will be able to watch the nominees announced live on YouTube.

After the nominations are confirmed, the show will then take place on December 11th. There are no leaks specifically for the event yet, but leaks have just surfaced concerning an unannounced Ubisoft battle royale “heavily inspired” by Apex Legends.

On the same day as The Game Awards, there will also be the premiere of Tomb Raider the Legend of Lara Croft Season 2 on Netflix. We’ve only gotten a “sneak peek” for the second season so far, but there’s hope that it premiering on the same day as The Game Awards means there’s a chance Tomb Raider 12 will finally be revealed. We know Amazon is “continuing” to help with the next Tomb Raider game despite significant layoffs, and Crystal Dynamics has also just announced layoffs as they continue to “optimize” the next Lara Croft AAA adventure.

Game Awards 2025 Game of the Year Predictions

Our predictions for The Game Awards 2025 Game of the Year nominees are as follows:

  • Clair Obscur Expedition 33
  • Hollow Knight Silksong
  • Hades 2
  • Death Stranding 2
  • Split Fiction
  • Donkey Kong Bananza

Out of the above predictions, Clair Obscur Expedition 33 seems the favorite to win. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director has lauded Expedition 33 as his own GOTY, and Microsoft’s Phil Spencer has cast his vote for Sandfall Interactive, too. Expedition 33 already won Game of the Year at Gamescom x Asia, it is nominated for GOTY at the Indie Game Awards set for December, too, and it is also nominated for the Golden Joystick Awards’ Ultimate Game of the Year.

There are more fantastic games we believe rightfully stand a chance at being nominated. Dispatch has taken the world by storm selling over 1 million copies in ten days and getting players to beg for a second season. There’s also the fantastic experiences Megabonk and Ball X Pit as well as Blue Prince. These are all games we could predict for Indie Game of the Year, but we’d absolutely love them to be nominated for Game of the Year period. Unfortunately, unlike the Golden Joystick Awards which has 11 nominees, Geoff Keighley’s show only allows six.

Regardless of who gets nominated and eventually wins the prize, gamers have been blessed with a fantastic year of releases. Thankfully, 2026 is shaping up to be just as good with juggernauts on the way such as Resident Evil Requiem, 007 First Light, Marvel’s Wolverine, Marvel 1943 Rise of Hydra, Crimson Desert, and of course GTA 6, just to name a few.
